Physical Fitness
How fit are you
physically? What is your endurance level? How many hours can you
work in a day without feeling tired? How is your stamina? Do you
feel tired just after a few hours of work? Are you feeling fresh at
the end of the day as much as you felt at the beginning of the day?
The answer to the above will depend on your physical fitness. Your
physical fitness is a result of the effort you are taking to keep
yourself fit. Watch a world-class tennis player or a cricket player.
Talk to them as to what type of exercises they do before coming to
play their game. They call it as "workouts." They do a series of
exercises to keep themselves fit in their game. Just like a good
handwriting is a result of constant practice, a good health is the
result of a disciplined way of organising your activities. In
addition to your normal work, you should also spend time in initiating
and maintaining a series of exercises. You can think of walking,
jogging or playing some game.
Yoga is a good substitute
for physical exercise if you do not have a place to go and play. Take
a good book on yoga and understand the concept behind it. The concept
can be summarised in a few lines: "Your brain needs a good oxygen and
blood supply." Your blood needs to be purified and what purifies is
the quality of oxygen that you intake. We are living in a crowded
world where pollution is on the higher side and is increasing day by
day.
After mid 40's you should
not be a burnout. The instances of blood pressure and heart attacks
are increasing day by day. If you analyse the cause behind health and
ill health, it will point out only one thing: physical fitness and the
efforts to reach the same.
