Follow - up
You should understand
that follow-up is important. 90% of anything that you do is follow up
and only 10% is initiation. If you do not follow-up the chances are
that a thing may not be done. You should have a checklist as
follows:
1. Things to be
followed up every year: E.g. renewing your insurance policy.
2. Things to
be followed up every six months: E.g. checking your weight
and
other health parameters.
3. Monthly
follow-up:
E.g. checking your bank
balance and checking the entries.
4. Fortnightly
follow-up: E.g. keeping an eye on your progress towards your 'A'
priorities.
5. Weekly
follow-up: E.g.
linking your long-term goal and short term daily activities through
your weekly Schedules.
6. Daily follow-up:
Following up important issues on a day-to-day basis.
You may have your own
ways of following up things. You can use simple notepads to Casio
diaries. Your computers will give you lot of programmes where you can
have a pre-set programs for following up many things.
Use your diary
effectively to note down and following up important activities. You
can even use ordinary cards. A friend of mine used to have cards of
three different colours for follow up. Red for very urgent, yellow
for medium urgent and blue for not urgent but important. Use of
colour cards will draw your attention much more than plain cards.
Today list down things
that you have not followed up for the past few days. Think about the
consequences.
